Printer Error Codes

E50 - There has been a malfunction of the fuser unit and the temperature, in particular. Switch the machine off for 5 minutes then on again. If problem persists, contact the manufacturer.
E51 - There has been a malfunction of the laser unit and the laser beam is not being detected. Try switching the printer off and on again.
E52 - There has been a malfunction of the laser motor with the spinning mirror and motor itself developing a fault. Turning the print off and on should resolve this.
E54 - There has been a malfunction of the main motor which drives all of the printing functions. In this instance, switch the printer off and then on again.
E60 - There has been a malfunction of the fan. Try switching the printer off and on or seek a replacement fan if the problem persists.
Replace PF Kit - The paper pick-up rollers and separation pads have reached their life cycle end and need to be replaced to avoid paper jams.
Replace Fuser Unit - The fuser unit needs to be replaced as it's reached it's life cycle end. An engineer will be able to assist you with this.
Replace Laser Unit - The laser unit needs to be replaced as it's reached it's life cycle end. To avoid deterioration of print quality, seek assistance from an engineer.
Clean Drum Unit - Dust or loose toner has been detected around the drum unit. Remove the unit and clean off any residue.
20 - Used to write the information to be printed onto the drum surfaces, there has been a laser diode failure. Attempt switching the machine off and on to resolve the issue.
21 - Used to write the information to be printed onto the drum surfaces, there has been a laser diode failure. Attempt switching the machine off and on to resolve the issue.
22 - Used to write the information to be printed onto the drum surfaces, there has been a laser diode failure. Attempt switching the machine off and on to resolve the issue.

31 - Used to check the print density, the density sensor has developed a fault and can be resolved by switching the machine off and on.
32 - An issue has arisen with the density sensor shutter. This can become defective and will need to be replaced by an engineer if this is the case.
50 - The drum unit needs to be replaced as it's reach the end of it's life cycle. Replacing the drum unit and resetting the drum life counter sill see this error code removed.
51 - The feed roller and separation pad for the manual feed tray may need to be replaced.
52 - The feed roller and separation pad for the main feed tray may need to be replaced.
54 - The fuser unit needs to be replaced as it's reached its life cycle end. An engineer will be able to assist you with this.
55 - The laser unit needs to be replaced as it's reached it's life cycle end. To avoid deterioration of print quality, seek assistance from an engineer.
57 - A paper jam has occurred in the duplex unit meaning the paper has jammed during double-sided printing. Check the paper in the unit and remove.
5E - The transfer belt is in need of replacement having reached the end of it's life cycle. Once the belt has been replaced you should also reset the counter.
68 - Whether the fuser unit is too hot or not hot enough, a fuser unit failure has occurred. Switch the printer off and on before attempting to print again.
69 - Whether the fuser unit is too hot or not hot enough, a fuser unit failure has occurred. Switch the printer off and on before attempting to print again.
6A - Whether the fuser unit is too hot or not hot enough, a fuser unit failure has occurred. Switch the printer off and on before attempting to print again.
6B - Whether the fuser unit is too hot or not hot enough, a fuser unit failure has occurred. Switch the printer off and on before attempting to print again.

71 - There is a problem with the laser unit in relation to the scanner motor. Switch the machine off and on or contact the manufacturer should you need further assistance.
72 - There is a problem with the laser unit in relation to being able to detect the Beam Detect signal. Switch the machine off and on or contact the manufacturer should you need further assistance.
74 - The printer is informing you that you are out of toner.
76 - There is an issue with the fuser unit in that there is a temperature issue affecting the performance of the machine. Switch the machine off and on or contact the manufacturer should you need further assistance.
78 - There is an issue with the fuser unit in that there is a temperature issue affecting the performance of the machine. Switch the machine off and on or contact the manufacturer should you need further assistance.
83 - A paper jam has been detected by the paper sensors inside the machine.Remove any paper from the paper path.
84 - Within the body of the machine, a paper jam has been detected. Remove any obstructing paper.
88 - A paper jam has been detected in the recording paper path. Check the paper path and remove any excess paper.
A2 - This error code relates to a paper jam when using an automatic document feeder. Make sure the feeder is correctly set and remove any obstructions from the paper path.

A5 - There is an issue where the scanner is unable to read the outgoing document(s). Switch the machine off and on or contact the manufacturer should you need further assistance.
B9 - This relates to an error with the scanning unit light. If the scan light doesn't illuminate after switching the printer off and on, it may need to be replaced.
30 - A fault involving the movement of the print head has been detected. Remove any obstructions from the print head.
33 - A fault involving the movement of the print head has been detected. Remove any obstructions from the print head.
34 - A fault involving the movement of the print head has been detected. Remove any obstructions from the print head.
35 - A fault involving the movement of the print head has been detected. Remove any obstructions from the print head.
36 - A fault involving the movement of the print head has been detected. Remove any obstructions from the print head.
37 - A fault involving the movement of the print head has been detected. Remove any obstructions from the print head.
38 - A fault involving the movement of the print head has been detected. Remove any obstructions from the print head.
41 - A fault has developed regarding the functionality of the print head. In this assistance you may need the help of an engineer.
46 - During the printing process, waste toner is produced. This error code indicates the waste toner box is full and needs to be replaced.
82 - A fault has occurred when trying to feed the recording paper. To resolve this, remove the paper tray and reseat the paper.
DF - An error has occurred with the modem when trying to communicate with other fax machines. Switch the machine off and on or contact the manufacturer should you need further assistance.
26 - The printer is unable to detect one of the ink cartridges.
27 - The printer is unable to detect one of the ink cartridges.
28 - The printer is unable to detect one of the ink cartridges.

Fax Error Codes

7A - There has been a malfunction of the main motor which drives all of the printing functions. In this instance, switch the printer off and then on again.
7D - A leakage has been detected in the drum unit which is affecting the performance of the machine.
82 - Within the body of the machine, a paper jam has been detected. Remove any obstructing paper.
A2 - The fax machine is unable to send your document due to an error. This may be due to the document being too long to be scanned.
A3 - Having placed a document on the fax machine ready to send, the machine has failed to recognize it is there. Simply reseat the paper to resolve this issue.
A9 - The unit that reads the outgoing information has incurred a problem. Switch the machine off and on or contact the manufacturer should you need further assistance.
D5 - In trying to send the document, the fax machine has detected a communication error. Check the telephone line is live and connected correctly.
85 - An ink ribbon is used in the sending of faxes. This error code relates to a problem with the ink ribbon and it will need to be reseated to resolve the problem.
8A - A problem with the print head has been detected. Make sure there is no debris stuck to the print head. Switch the machine off and on or contact the manufacturer should you need further assistance.

A2 - During the transmission of a document, a fault has been detected in that the document is too long to be scanned.
A7 - The machine has indicated that the document is taking too long to be scanned.
B9 - A problem has arisen with the scanner unit and its light intensity. Switch the machine off and on or contact the manufacturer should you need further assistance.
8203 - Within the body of the machine, a paper jam has been detected. Remove any obstructing paper.
8303 - Within the body of the machine, a paper jam has been detected. Remove any obstructing paper.
8809 - Within the body of the machine, a paper jam has been detected. Remove any obstructing paper.
880B - Within the body of the machine, a paper jam has been detected. Remove any obstructing paper.

CANON logo

Error Code -  Description

E13 - Your ink cartridges may have ran out of ink. Replace the empty ink cartridges with some consumables that are compatible with your machine.
E16 - Your cartridges are out of ink. Replace your empty ink cartridges and close the paper output cover.
U162 - Your machine is prompting you to replace empty cartridges. If this message is displayed after inserting a new ink cartridge, you can remove this error code by carrying out the following instruction. On your Canon printer, find, press and hold down the STOP/RESET/RESUME button for 10 seconds. This lets the printer know you're aware of the message but wish to continue printing anyway. You will be allowed to print as normal.
U163 - Your machine is prompting you to replace empty cartridges. If this message is displayed after inserting a new ink cartridge, you can remove this error code by carrying out the following instruction. On your Canon printer, find, press and hold down the STOP/RESET/RESUME button for 10 seconds. This lets the printer know you're aware of the message but wish to continue printing anyway. You will be allowed to print as normal.
1686 - The ink in your cartridges has ran out. Replace the empty ink cartridges.

E04 - The FINE cartridge used in your printer has been installed incorrectly. To remove these cartridges you need to retract the output tray extension before opening the cover. Once the cartridges have been remove you can re-install them by pushing them in until it clicks into place. Close the cover before resuming printing.
E05 - This error code may cause an orange light on your machine to blink 5 times and is caused by the print head not being installed at all or it may have been installed incorrectly.
E14 - An orange light may blink 14 times when this error code appears. The code relates to the ink cartridge not being supported by the printer and this may be as a result of the ink tank being sold in a different region to where the printer was originally bought.
E15 - Referring to occasions when the ink cartridge isn't recognized, this can be solved by lifting the cover of the printer and ensuring the ink cartridge is inserted.
1487 - This usually refers to ink cartridges being installed in the wrong position and a simple check of the cartridge codes and re-installation should resolve this.

B200 - This error code refers to a service error that can occur due to a hardware failure with either the printer or the print head. Official Canon advice states that you can: Turn off the printer, Disconnect the power cable, Open the printer cover, Check for any orange protective tape or white polystyrene and remove if necessary, Check that there are no foreign objects in the printer (such as a paper clip) and remove if necessary, Close the cover, Reconnect and turn on. 5011 - Signifying a printer error, you can resolve this by turning the printer off and unplugging it before plugging it back in and attempting to print once more.
306 - Refers to occasions when you're looking to print from a Mac. A solution for this issue is to: Click the Apple icon in the top left of the screen. Click System Preferences. Click Print & Fax. If the padlock in the bottom left is locked: Click it, enter your password and click OK. Click the – button. to remove the printer and the + to add it again leaving the options on default.
5100 - A service error has occurred. Turn off the printer. Disconnect the power cable. Open the printer cover. Check for any orange protective tape or white polystyrene and remove if necessary. Check that there are no foreign objects in the printer (such as a paper clip) and remove if necessary. Close the cover. Reconnect and turn on

6A00 - A printer error has occurred.

6C10 - A printer error has occurred.
1682 - Your printer is having trouble recognizing the cartridge(s). This may be because the gold contact area on the front of the cartridge has been obscured. Remove the cartridge and make sure there is no dirt/ink obscuring the gold contact area. This can be done using a kitchen towel. Reinstall the cartridge and attempt to print once again. If the error message persists, please contact your supplier.
1684 - Your printer is having trouble recognizing the cartridge(s). This may be because the gold contact area on the front of the cartridge has been obscured. Error Code -  Description

I-01 - This indicates you are out of paper or multiple pages have been fed. Using the page feeder, reload or load more paper before pressing the 'start' button.
W-05 - This indicates you are out of paper or multiple pages have been fed. Using the page feeder, reload or load more paper before pressing the 'start' button.
W-02 - The paper used in your machine has become jammed and you need to carefully remove the jam.

W-04 - The cover of your cartridge has opened and needs to be closed before you press #start' and resume printing.
W-10 - The ink cartridges in your machine have become empty or are incorrectly installed. In this instance, the cartridge should be replaced. If the code remains after a replacement has been placed inside the printer, it means the cartridge was installed incorrectly. Pressing the 'start' menu will move the cartridges to a position where they can be replaced. To continue, press down on the installed cartridges and press 'start'.
W-11 - The ink cartridges in your machine have become empty or are incorrectly installed. In this instance, the cartridge should be replaced. If the code remains after a replacement has been placed inside the printer, it means the cartridge was installed incorrectly. W-12 - The ink cartridges on the LCD screen can't be recognized and need to be replaced.
I-11 - There is no memory card inserted in the printer. To remove this message, please insert a memory card.
W-30 - A memory card has been installed incorrectly or is unsupported by the printer. Also, it may not contain compatible media files. To resolve this, remove the card and check the files or try another memory card.

I-50 - On the scanner glass, the index sheet has not been placed or positioned correctly. You can check this by looking at the marks on the sheet and placing it correctly before attempting to print it again.
I-51 - This code refers to fact there are no photos selected on the index sheet or the paper type is not selected. Additionally, this code may refer to corresponding ovals not being marked on the index sheet correctly. This can be resolved by checking the marks on the sheet and positioning it correctly before retrying the printer.
I-52 - This code refers to fact there are no photos selected on the index sheet or the paper type is not selected. I-53 - There is an issue with the index sheet not matching the photos inserted via a memory card. The card or sheet should be replaced before attempting to print again.
W-01 - There are parts of your Epson printer that are coming to the end of their service life and you should contact Epson directly for technical support.
E-10 - There are parts of your Epson printer that are coming to the end of their service life and you should contact Epson directly for technical support.
E-02 - An error has occurred with your Epson machine and you need to turn the printer off, wait a couple of minutes, then turn it back on. If this error is still displayed you should contact Epson directly.
E-01 - Should this error show on your printer, we'd urge you to turn the machine off and check there is no sign of a paper jam. Once this has been checked you can turn the machine back on. If this Epson error code remains, contact the printer manufacturer directly.
Win32 - This is due to a software update carried out by Microsoft in November 2017. The issue seemed to affect Epson dot matrix printers, and users reported issues with printer models such as Epson LX-310, Epson FX890, and Epson LQ690. To remove this message you can either uninstall the update via your PC's control Panel or you can go the Microsoft Update Catalog and install the default Microsoft Printer Driver.

Error Code - Description

02 - An issue most commonly associated with driver or printer cable problems, turning the printer off and on should see this error message disappear. A hardware problem may be the reason the error message persists.
10 - Also known as "Supplies Memory Error", this code indicates that the machine is having difficulty with a toner cartridge chip in that it's unable to read it. Try resetting the printer initially and reinstall the toner cartridge if the problem persists. If these fail, it could be a hardware issue.
11 - Your printer is out of paper and so you should add sheets to the paper tray.
12 - If this code appears, check whether your cartridges are correctly installed and that the cover is not open.
13 - Indicating a paper jam, this code can be removed by following the guidance on the printer screen. Don't risk damaging the machine to remove a paper jam.
14 - The printer doesn't recognize your cartridges. Remove and reinstall to resolve the problem.
16 - This is a warning that your toner levels are low or empty.
20 - If a print job exceeds the memory capacity of the printer, this code will appear. Reducing the DPI or making the document simpler are just a couple of steps you can take.
21 - See above steps.
22 - The printer and your computer or having a communication problem. Try connecting via a different method and that the cable is connected at both ends.
24 - This code will appear should you send too many print jobs to the printer.
25 - See above steps.
30 - PostScript firmware errors will cause this code to appear, try printing an alternative PostScript file or reset the PostScript SIMM.
30.1 - The hard disk drive in your printer has crashed and you should resolve this by pressing the 'select' button on your machine.
40 - A data transfer error has caused the connection between your printer and computer to break. Check your connection settings as well as all cable connections.
41 - A temporary print engine error has occurred. Simply turn the printer off at the plug for a minute before resuming your printing.
49 - Depending on your HP printer, this can be caused by a number of issues associated with the firmware. Try updating the firmware and restarting the printer, if still unresolved it may mean a hardware issue.
50.1 - There is an issue with the fuser caused by a low temperature and the fuser failing to warm up.
50.2 - There has been a warm up failure or the period allocated for the warm-up period has timed out.
50.3 - A high temperature has caused the thermistor to become too hot.
50.4 - Potentially caused by a bad mains supply, the fuser has become faulty.
50.5 - Your printer has detected the wrong type of fuser.
50.6 - Through possible overheating, the fuser heater has cut-off.
50.7 - A problem with the fuser drive motor has occurred which has then caused a fuser pressure release mechanism failure.
50.8 - A fault with the secondary thermistor has been detected.
50.9 - There has been a high fuser temperature detected.
51 - Most often associated with older printer models, this code indicates that the tab on the bottom of a cartridge has been broken off and/or is missing. It could also be a problem with the scanner unit on your model.
52 - To be solved by an HP engineer, this fault indicates an error with the polygon mirror used during the scanning process.
54 - The sealing tape may not have been removed from your cartridge causing an error with the printer cycle.
55 - This code indicates there is a poor connection between the DC controller and the formatter. In this instance contact an HP engineer.
56 - Depending on the model of HP printer, this printer device error can be resolved in a number of ways including: making sure the paper tray is correctly installed, reinstalling the stacker, making sure you're not incorrectly printing through the duplex unit, duplex mode isn't enabled when printing envelopes, the printer configuration is correct.
57.xx - One or more of the fans on your HP printer have failed. Contact an HP engineer for assistance.
58.xx - This error code may arise as a result of an issue with an environmental sensor, memory controller, fan, power or DC controller.
59 - A motor error has occurred relating to either the main motor, fuser motor, image drum motor or ETC motor. Reset or change the memory to resolve.
60.xx - Commonly associated with newer models, this error code indicates a problem with the motorized tray lift. Check there are no obstructions such as staples or paperclips.
61 - A defective formatter board or bad memory SIMMs has been detected. Reseating the memory chips or replacing the formatter board should resolve this.
62 - A defective formatter board or bad memory SIMMs has been detected. Reseating the memory chips or replacing the formatter board should resolve this.
63 - A defective formatter board or bad memory SIMMs has been detected. Reseating the memory chips or replacing the formatter board should resolve this.
64 - Either a defective D.C. controller, improperly fitted or bad firmware DIMMs or defective formatter board have been detected. Try turning the printer off and on or reseating the DIMMs formatter board.
65 - Either a defective D.C. controller, improperly fitted or bad firmware DIMMs or defective formatter board have been detected. Try turning the printer off and on or reseating the DIMMs formatter board.
66 - An additional paper or envelope tray has caused a problem. Check the connections between the additional units. If the problem persists, seek assistance from an engineer.
67 - Relating to a service printer error or a memory error, this code can be removed by checking byour paper trays aren't damaged along with connection cables or reseating any SIMMs if necessary.
68 - A NVRAM error has occurred. This may be due to the NVRAM being full. try to reset the NVRAM and printing a configuration page.
69 - This indicates a problem with the duplex unit (the part that allows for double-sided printing). Clear any obstructions which may be causing the issue.
70 - The SIMM or cartridge is incompatible with the machine. This issue is rare.
71 - The SIMM or cartridge is incompatible with the machine. This issue is rare.
72 - A defective cartridge has been detected. Turn the printer off and on and check the cartridge has been correctly installed.
79 - An issue has been found with either an accessory, I/O card or the firmware. Update the latest firmware to try and resolve this.
80 - An issue has been found with either an accessory, I/O card or the firmware. Update the latest firmware to try and resolve this.
81 - An issue has been found with either an accessory, I/O card or the firmware. Update the latest firmware to try and resolve this.
89 - An error code identifying a PostScript ROM failure, you can resolve this by checking your PC ROM for any damage.
99 - This relates to a firmware upgrade an particularly a failure with the flash firmware. Updating to the latest firmware or replacing the flash firmware DIMM should resolve this issue.
